Origins of My Name
My name comes from Iria Flavia, a Spanish town in Galicia. All names have a meaning. Mine means “peace” and is derived from the name Irene coming from Greek mythology, and the Greek Eirene, the daughter of Zeus and Themis. Iria was a 7th century saint also known as Irene from Tomar, Portugal. Iria also means colorful rainbow, peace, and is of Spanish origin. It can also come from the Greek, Iris, or the name Irene. For many years, I got picked on. But then my name in Spanish is actually pronounced iri-ya. In English, its i-ri-a. I should put this pronunciation guide on Facebook.
