What is a query letter?
A query letter is all about how to impress a literary agent or an editor. A query letter is like a pitch in that it is meant to be a short summary. The summary is supposed to tell the author what the story is about. It has to be 1 page maximum from what I remember in school. I didn’t take business of creative writing and I mentally kick myself for not taking that class but I’m more organized in the present than I was in college, and now I can probably have better follow through for all projects. A query letter for any genre, even non-fiction, should be a quick way for an agent to decide that they need to look at your work further.
