What is Psychology?
Personally, I define psychology as gaining an understanding of the mind and behavior through talk therapy where the therapist helps you or gives you insight into your own behavior. There are many aspects of the field, with what is known as the original psychodynamic theory first touched on by Dr. Sigmund Freud. (1856-1939). After Freud there came along Jung (1964), Adler (1927), and Erikson (1950). Psychology could be defined as the science of how to repair the psych, or the soul if you will, because there can be any number of situations that destroys the fabric of personality itself.
